Resilience
I am sure you’ve heard the expression “life is a roller coaster”… as it happens we all go through ups and downs moments. Sometimes we are fast – luckily – to go swiftly through those dark down moments and sometimes it is so hard to collect the pieces and move on…
It is the case that in those times different mechanisms are working and all we can do – oil them, adjust them and make them work for you.
Developing Resilience
Let’s identify what is what… what are we actually working on?
Resilience is the ability to become strong, healthy or successful again after something bad happens.
We are human with feeling, emotions… hence…
Emotional resilience refers to one’s ability to adapt to stressful situations or crises.
Now there are practical tools for you to move forward:
1 - Develop The Right Attitude
I am not always responsible for what happens to me, but I am responsible for how I choose to respond.
2 - Become Aware
Clarify for yourself – the situation and your train of thoughts.
3 - Your Perseverance
Small steps mean you are still moving.
4 - Develop an Internal Locus of Control
What is it you are actually in charge for: your state, your thoughts, your response.
5 - Cultivate Optimism
Find the bright side. Remember “every cloud has a silver lining”… so what’s positive in this situation?
6 - Rally Social Support
Friends, family, work colleagues… or your life coach! Never give up.
