I am sure you’ve heard the expression “life is like a roller coaster”… as it happens we go through ups and downs. Sometimes we are fast – luckily – to go swiftly through the dark moments and other times it is so hard to collect the pieces and move on.
Developing Resilience
What are we actually working on?
Resilience is the ability to become strong, healthy or successful again after something bad happens. And we covering Emotional Resilience which refers to one’s ability to adapt to stressful situations and crises.
Life Coaching is always connected with actions,
so the following practical tools can be used to move forward:
1. Develop the Right Attitude
“I am not always responsible for what happens to me, but I am responsible for how I choose to respond.”
2. Become Aware
Clarify for yourself – the situation and your train of thoughts… you can vent for a short time and then do something to snap out of it. Change your state.
3. Your Perseverance
Small steps mean you are still moving…
4. Develop an Internal Locus of Control
The term “locus of control” refers to whether you feel your life is controlled by you or by forces outside yourself.
Check what is it you are actually in charge of: your state, your thoughts, your response… (continue with the list)
5. Cultivate Optimism
What is positive about this situation? As in proverbial “every cloud has a silver lining” try to point out something bright in what’s happening… loyal friends, new opportunities…
6. Rally Social Support
Business network, family, friends… your life coach.
Never give up
