Confidence and change are closely interconnected. Change is constant – in our lives, our work, and the environments we operate in. As a result, confidence is not something fixed; it needs to be continuously developed, strengthened, and sometimes redefined as we move through different transitions.
Rather than seeing confidence as a permanent trait, it is more helpful to view it as a dynamic capability – something we can consciously maintain and upgrade over time.
There are several practical ways to support this process:
- Revisit and recognise your skills
- Take time to reflect on what you already know and can do. Many of our skills are transferable across different roles and situations, even when we do not immediately recognise them.
- Clarify uncertainty and seek solutions
Identify the specific areas that feel uncertain or challenging. Once defined, these can often be addressed more effectively through planning, learning, or support. - Focus on progress, not perfection
Confidence grows through action. Small steps forward help build momentum and reduce hesitation over time.
Ultimately, confidence is strengthened through awareness, reflection, and a willingness to adapt. In a world where change is constant, our ability to evolve with it becomes one of our greatest strengths.
How we see ourselves
Change can challenge how we see ourselves, but it also offers an opportunity to grow. By staying aware of how we are responding and taking conscious action, we can maintain a strong sense of confidence even in uncertain times.
Be aware of the shifts happening around you – and within you – and take steps to support and rebuild your confidence as needed.
