The first thing is you need to be totally selfless. When you’re coaching, nothing is about you, it’s all about your client. A coach is energy, wisdom. You are a being with extra sharpened skills of seeing, listening and feeling.

You become your clients thinking partner. You are on their side. If your client is in doubt, as a coach, you are not in doubt. You are confident in your clients’ success, their progress, their victory. You are in the game of life together. Or is it adventure of life?

Does this feel like an exciting place to be?

For me, it’s the best feeling in the world.

I love observing my clients spreading their wings, I practically feel when the shift is made, when they start believing… and they enjoy it without realising what’s actually happened to them, the shift they’ve made. There maybe a little spark in the eyes, that little smile and then often they laugh openly about their challenges and feel liberated.

Quite often we, as coaches, say that we should stay reserved to be able to help. If we do, we are curbing our passion for winning, and we achieve a degree of success.

Letting your passion free and giving an occasional ‘Go for it!’ can work! An extra boost like this is often welcome and can work wonders.  

A coaches’ life is one of endless learning, researching, being curious about the world and it becomes our way of life. Being able to see the picture of the world from totally different point of view – the view of your client – and helping them to transform that picture into something incredibly empowering, beautiful, multi-dimensional or just comfortable is an art form you learn.

My personal massive challenge as a coach was to learn how not to react and let the process to unfold, staying in the flow with a client, helping them to take control in their hands. Like a seed absorbing water, sprouting and developing in full blossom, that’s how transformation happens with a client from initial stage of coaching to their full actions through the progress.

It is never about our personal experience in life, and even if the story is similar, it is never the same. Hence the beauty of silencing your thoughts and just listening, listening with the purpose to understand, listening with the heart.

A client always knows if a coach truly listens.    

I think coaches are discoverers and poets. You have to be ready for the unknown, to take risks and enjoy it. The ability to weave with a client their fabulous life requires imagination, stamina, perseverance, steadfast will and love of life.

You want your clients to create their lives’ masterpieces.
