High Voltage Performance for Business Ideas
Recently I was running a couple of workshops with the students at the Ambition Vault competition, which Glyndwr University run in partnership with Farrall’s Group, a leading logistics provider based in Deeside.
It all starts with an idea!
The variety of ideas people came to this completion was dazzling, the development level was quite diversified – from initial thought to the presentation, from selected points to the concept. Encouraging participants to develop a big picture first, moving to strategy, and focusing on the first steps, however big or small it was, made them feel the reality of the business world.
During the follow-up coaching sessions, the students embraced the chance to explore their ideas in depth.
Listening with the intention to understand.
The basis for the idea to grow is the environment where a person is being listened to. Intensely listened! As a coach, you are listening to emotions, the thoughts which might not be expressed clearly, and ideas that are not formed properly. Those ideas are like newly hatched birds that are learning to fly and gaining their strengths before going into the world.
When you talk your idea through in a supportive environment, where a person or a group is totally on your side, that’s where you can become braver and ready to take risks to explore, to change, to go forward. Probing and testing, being shy, and scared are the steps before learning to fly.
Coaching does wonders for entrepreneurs. At this exciting stage, most people might feel vulnerable, and helping them finding their confidence and showing that they have what it takes to succeed opens a new dimension for them.
Catch that high emotional voltage!
Being in a creative state of mind either in art, business, sport, or any other areas it is the level where your brain catches the high emotional voltage, where anything is possible. To put it into action and direct into progressive flow is paramount to keep the energy and passion.
After much exploration and discussion, what would be the way forward to keep the drive going? The answer is – check if the whole idea is congruent with your values and interests. Defining the areas for studying provides clarity and understanding that it is ok not to know, and it is ok to ask for help.
By the end of each session, I could see the eyes of students were shining and that knowing look when they were excited about the way forward and keen to start their actions now.
Confidence to go ahead.
Judging by their response to the question “What have you learn about yourself today?” they had a few discoveries. The answers: “It opened a new door for me”, “I moved to another level”, “I have more confidence to go ahead now” proved once again that entrepreneurial spirit can be cherished and cultivated by coaching methods and peer support.
Wherever we are in our lives there is always room to be creative and be dazzled by ideas. Stay open to those sparks….
