“None can destroy IRON; but its own rust can.

Likewise no one can destroy us; but our own mindset can.”

– Ratan Tata.

It is normal for us to tune all sorts of devices – a car, a phone, PC, TV. Our most important device is our mindset, the tuning of which is a must. Fortunately, it can be done straight away now.

Let check three mental traps, which can be rusty:

1. Fixation.

When we can not change the circumstances, don’t focus on winning by any price. Be flexible and kind on yourself. If you are stuck in the traffic, you can use the time to listen to music or creative dreaming! You are rich with time, use it for your pleasure.

2. Persistence.

Still thinking about the unpleasant event in the past, still watching the movie you don’t enjoy, or continue with the relationship which is one-sided.

Check if it gives you any positive emotions, happy feelings and if not, change the course of your actions. Recall the wonderful event, you loved. Stop watching that movie. The relationship – are you feeling alive in it or getting rusty?

3. Giving negative meaning.

We are the ones who give meaning to the events. “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.” – W. Shakespeare.

If you see a packet of biscuits – you might think it is tea time, or I need to do shopping or think of calories. It is only a packet of biscuits and it gives different trains of thoughts, and consequently different feelings, actions, or reactions.

Replacing your negative thoughts with positive ones. Find a better meaning and reframeyour thoughts. Reframing is a way of viewing events, ideas, and emotions to find more positive alternatives.

While clearing the mindset out of those mental traps we allow ourselves to perceive the world with more wonder and joy. Are you open to wonders?
